DWP-3 SOD WATERWAYS
DEFINITION A natural or constructed channel that is shaped or graded to required dimensions and established in suitable vegetation for the stable conveyance of runoff.
PURPOSE Convey runoff from terraces, diversions or other water concentrations without causing erosion or flooding. Improve water quality. Improve wildlife habitat.
When waterways are being constructed berms are placed around the waterway to allow the establishment of the seeding in the waterway. Once the seeding has been established the berms are removed to allow the surface water to runoff.
