Rental Equipment

NO-TILL DRILL

The Pike County Soil and Water Conservation District has a 7' Great Plains No-Till Drill available for cooperators to rent. A 55 hp tractor or larger is needed for operation. It will drill legume seed, cool season grass and native grass seed.

The fee for renting the drill is $10 per acre, with a $50 minimum. A $150 deposit is required, but will be refunded at the time the drill is returned in satisfactory condition.

ROOT PLOW

Root plow requires a 3-point hitch and at least a 70 hp tractor to operate. Plow rents for $25 per day - no deposit required. Be sure to check for buried cables, pipes and other utilities before plowing.

BURN EQUIPMENT

General burn equipment rents for $25 per day - no deposit required, and includes drip torch, two flappers, two rakes and a backpack sprayer.

The Fire Cracker Water Unit rents for $40 per day - no deposit required, and consists of a 100-gallon tank which must be pulled with a truck or tractor.

Landowners are encouraged to participate in a burn workshop before attempting their own controlled burn. Assistance in conducting burns is available from the Missouri Department of Conservation and for preparing burn plans, you can consult with your local NRCS office. Both can be reached by calling 573-324-3201 ext. 3. Landowners must notify their local fire departments before conducting a controlled burn on any property.
