Whetstone Watershed AgNPS SALT Project
The Whetstone Watershed AgNPS SALT Project began July 1, 2002 with $462,813.74 for the cost-share practices offered in the area. It has been a successful seven year project which will end June 30, 2008.
Objectives of the AgNPS SALT project include: Improve and/or maintain pasture and grassland health on 833 acres; establish and/or improve waste management systems by implementing nutrient management, waste utilitzation and manure transfer; provide information and education support through 954 actvities including field days, tours, news articles, outreach mailings, planning meetings, contacts and soil and manure testing; establish and/or improve existing riparian corridor; improve and maintain ground and surface water quality by decommissioning wells, stabalizing streambanks, alternative watering systems and improving ponds.
